My Review of How To Be a Man (For my Son) by Deedee27
Dear GOD!
This broke my heart, the father of three girls, of happily married women now, I cannot imagine the loss of any of them, how you must have rejoiced to see him again! You have to be very strong to live through that, my Dad was 'perfectly' normal Christian church going man I couldn't wait to get away from but we hugged and cried when I got back from Vietnam.

Brrrr
Dark alright but well done in its own grim way, I like the phrase 'riches without wealth' your vocabulary is showing in the condemnation of all that we hate, Kudos

My Review of Pledge of Allegiance (Native American) by Deedee27
Obviously heartfelt
I just posted another in a line of (now 9) tributes to the Natives Americans which I began writing after seeing a show put on by the Monacan Nation just south of where I live in VA. Already being a history buff my reading began to percolate through my muse and these began to come to me. "In the World" was written back when the others were just didn't get posted until this morning and I remembered you identifying as a Native American when you critiqued my poem "A woman nothing more" back in Nov. of '09. No my memory isn't that good I was reviewing some of my old ones. Cut to chase:
Please have a look at my nine odes to your nations when you get time:
Native Americans 23/02/05 way down my column
Crows in the corn 18/04/09
Proud remnant 19/04/09
Smoke in the wind 19/04/09
The people 25/04/09
Migration 17/05/09
Small fire 30/05/09
Eagle Heart the Cherokee 13/02/10
As a fellow writer I seek to share what interests people and hope you find some merit in these, they were done with respect and I too hate the history of my ancestors in their treatment of yours. Peace.

My Review of Has the world gone mad by matelotrod
Aptly put sir
Eight years of Obama nearly made me nuts with frustration watching him trying to flush us down the commode GRRRRR If we ever get good government it will be in spite of the media and the toadying sycophants, I wish us all luck Cheers Rod.
One more thing: I just discovered WN was back up how long was it down do you know?

My Review of What Do We Really Know? by Silverblue
Bang on
Have had these thoughts myself and didn't get struck by lightning so there must be something to them. Stumped our pastor at church once telling that nobody really knows, we believe fully but cannot actually know can we? He wasn't thrilled with that but in the end agreed, I felt as if I had mistreated my dog.

My Review of Melody of the Countryside by RachelMurray
Splendid
Skeeter and Silverblue spotted the musical connection I missed but a friend set one of mine to music a few years ago ( Silent Command 12-02-10) way down my column and he changed things around just like these guys suggested. Being just a listener I thought this was a really good story right from the title and recognized all the analogies fit perfectly. You have a way with words alright and I'm going to read more of yours for sure.

Leaving interpretation for us to conjure the meaning awards us a measure of freedom but even with the ensuing snippet posted I can only guess but I enjoy your word usage.

My Review of The Breakfast Brawl by richom
Your usual brilliance
Sad subject, amusing portrayal with spot on rhyming combinations. Never any airy fairy incomprehensible gibberish from you, meat and potatoes language and presentation each time for us work a day writers, loved it as usual sir.

My Review of Satan and God by richom
Most excellent
A distillation of the eternal cosmic conundrum in great AB AB rhyming scheme with well chosen words and phrases that make clear perfect sense. Nearly the entire Bible's basic message in five verses, well done indeed sir doffing my hat at this one.

My Review of My 9/11 - Talking Heads by jonni-inferno
Home run
So sad we have so many that are so blind, wake up calls do no good, a lady just told me there were only TWO terrorist attacks here during Obama's presidency! I shake my head and keep buying ammo talking does no good.

My Review of Goodbye my love, goodbye by terrygodwin
Poignant
Several points in common attracted me to this, my grandson lives far away, my wife is gone and I have already lived in NZ. Three years in Auckland from '77 to '80. This piece is also evocative of one I posted on 31-10-09 called Never Goodbye. Well done capturing the emotion of ageing very well ie retrenching in future plans. One caveat;
Author notes.."lose their partner"

My Review of Conceited by Silverblue
Universal appeal
Don't most of us wonder what it would be like? It didn't rhyme is why I can't give it 5 stars but that is my handicap not this poem's. Marvelous piece.

My Review of Til Day by spokenhues
Wow
Well done indeed, slyly graphic and bold, adult in every sense of the word while just subtle enough to make the imagination do its part. Hard to believe Keith is the only one to comment and he says it all. Nice work here, my one erotic piece is "Dirty on your mind" down my column at 15-11-08. Going to read more of your work!

My Review of Love's Reasoning by odinroark
Wow
Eloquent and accurate on so many levels it mixed up impressions of my ex wife and the recent presidential campaign both are described by theses verses. It makes being happy seem like a hopeless task but I thread my way between the dark visions offered here to reach the light beyond.

My Review of Traces of Absence by odinroark
Evocative
A shelf of old albums full of these, people I barely remember from my parents day will no doubt be disposed of by my children because they don't have any idea who they are and don't care. The transient nature of our individual lives occurred to me some years ago resulting in "Bury Patch" down my column at 15-02-08 deals with the very apt title of this piece, nicely done sir.

A visceral thrill
I thought 30 meters with a rifle was close but those old warriors must have had balls that clanked. I have seen and hefted those old broadswords at gun shows and would have tried to buy them a beer or told them a joke brrrr this poem got right inside of me.

Yes, a jolly wander in the country portrayed with just the right vision but in the next to last line should it be: ...led them to this happy trail? Proofreading other's work brings out the shy wimp in me but leg made no sense to me.

Sitting here in my chair guts churning in anticipation of the finish because you painted a vivid picture of the competition. Words well chosen and placed displayed the nervous need to win clearly. Damn fine writing.
