Born and raised in the South, I am a mother, grandmother, big sister, loyal friend, and widow. I lost my husband to cancer in June of 2012. He fought a good fight for 4 years. I was his wife, lover, best friend, nurse, handmaid, and constant companion during his dance with death. I went into mourning on the day we first received his diagnosis, in May of 2008.

After his death, I experienced shock, relief, deep and abiding sadness, anger, and finally depression. In January of 2013, I rose from my bed one afternoon, still in my pajamas, raised my arms heavenward, and proclaimed out loud, "God, I am broken. Fix me. I can't do this by myself. I am Yours to do with as You please. Whatever Your will is for me, I will follow. Lead me, please. I don't want to feel sad any more. Four and a half years of mourning is enough."

What followed is nothing short of miraculous. I began healing that very day. Over the course of the next few weeks, I began journaling and writing poetry. My poems are from my heart, my faith, my experiences, and my imagination. And from God. This I know, because I had never written before.

I pray you enjoy my private writings, which I now share with you.
