A Minstrel's Christmas

The minstrel walked through Christmas Day
thinking of a babe there in his manger.
And knowing that he spent his life helping folk
who were in the utmost mental danger.

Those suffering  from war
and other ravages of life.
People used to hunger, pain
and pestilence and strife.

Sometimes his belief in God was shaken
as daily he considered their sad fate.
Plus he had finally grown tired
and a bit sick in his heart of late.

Yet as he pondered with regard to Jesus
he knew there was still good in this world.
The bard's smile then grew more radiant
as his sweet lips upward curled.

Wonderful Christmas Poem!
This is a wonderful Christmas poem, enjoyed how you switched the rhyming pattern in the second stanza. I enjoyed this poem. It spoke of a minstrel dedicated to help alleviate the burdens on people's hearts. The suffering of others sometimes took a toll on his faith and general state of being but I enjoy the hope he clings to at the very end of the poem. Like always, I enjoyed the musical quality of the poem. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Michael ...
..It is good to bring our Saviour into the forefront of our daily lives. Isn't this what Christmas is all about? Lovely piece. Thanks for sharing.
