I once saw the most beautiful bird
His mesmerizing colors were
ebony, white, yellow, green, brown and blue
The lovely creature perched on my hand
As if we were kindred spirits
So I named him Rainbow
Rainbow came to my bird feeder every day
And sang a tune
That made my soul dance
But his life was short lived
Because one day I found his bludgeoned body
In a pool of blood on the street
There was a note pinned to him
That said "I killin dat filthy bird cuz
He negro color are disgustin. Sieg Hiel"
I buried Rainbow in my backyard
As ashes fell from the sky
Like when the corpses from the Warsaw ghetto
Were burning and making my tears flow
Like blood From a gaping wound.

Sad and beautiful
A beautiful poem but sad. Doesn't happen often but this poem made my heart feel heavy but it also made me smile. The love the persona showed towards Rainbow and their faithful companionship. It was sad that his life had to be taken because someone despised his color. That part had some notion of racism and the terrible things it can cause. But I'm certain Rainbow was happy due to the love the persona showed it.

ALL colors..
..are sacred to our creator. One compliments the other in our beautiful world. Positive interaction is what is needed for us to peacefully co-exist.

Thank you. You are so right
