The House of the Future
By Elton Camp
It was by traveling the McMansion route
We learned what housing bubble was about
Houses that are far too big and hard to heat
Showed regular-sized quarters can’t be beat
Earthquake resistant and maintenance free
Is the absolute best way for a dwelling to be
Five hundred square feet isn’t a whole lot
With planning, all that’s needed it’s got
If for landscaping there is really no need
Reduced cost and work are hard to exceed
A family’s income would go quite far
If it’s bought for the price of a nice car
Thirty year mortgages would no more be
Debt-free in ten years sounds great to me
Another factor that surely can’t be wrong
If you must relocate, bring the house along
This approach to housing I recommend
Right now isn’t too soon for it to begin
Being called “trailer trash” is chance you take
But buying some huge house is sure a mistake
