I Sing My Song

I sing my song in celebration,
I sing my song for those who care.
The words resound through every nation,
I sing it loud so all may hear.

I sing for countless generations
Who've lived in ignorance and fear.
The words are plain, need no translations,
The theme is peace, the message clear.

One voice in song o'er all the others
May still be heard above the din.
Are we not all sisters and brothers,
Our roots the family of Man?

I sing of hope for our salvation,
My words, though weak, I pray they can
Reach out and teach that toleration
And peace on Earth's a better plan.

Though it may be futile, sing on. We need not all give in to despair and hopelessness.
If enough people join your chorus, there may be progress after all.

Thank you, Richard. You've done some pretty fair singing yourself.

Effective poem!
This poetry had been showing humanity and its beauty. This is an attractive and logical poem. The wordings and phrases are suitable and meaningful. This has been a magnificent poem, as a whole. This poem shows humanitarian and holistic parts of life. A great poem!

As much as there are people out there who strive for peace, there are many others who seem to be happy to cause the complete opposite. A very well penned poem with a good message, that sadly isn't heeded by a lot of humankind. I guess it's not that simple, but the notion can't be faulted. Too many people seek too many different things and hold different viewpoints. Alas - agree to disagree doesn't really work enough on planet earth among its people. Thought provoking piece.

Thanks for weighing in, Silverblue. A duet is better than a solo for this kind of song.
