You took my Hand

You took my hand and kissed my cheek
when I wanted to run away,
what on earth would all our friends think?
We had only just met that day.

It was the first time I knew my heart
could flutter in my chest so strong.
Very soon you were my hero
and where you went I tagged along

I loved it when you stroked my hair,
in time I rather hoped you might
kiss my lips as well as my cheek,
it became my dream, my delight.

Now we look back upon those days,
sweet lovely memories to adore,
you take my hand and kiss my cheek
just like you did when we were four.

Memory Lane
A really lovely little thought provoker Stella, I was surprised by the last stanza when I found that it was a childhood beginning but this made it so entertaining. That doesn't really explain what I am trying to say but I'm afraid that age is taking its toll and expressing my opinions is a little like kissing on the cheek. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. SL Take care. Rod.

How wonderful if we (adults) could show affection as easily as children. A delightful piece, Stella. I was rather unprepared for, and very pleasantly surprised by, the ending.

Thank you Jim....

This one has an autobiographical sound to it. The poet titillates us at first with the apparent picture of budding young love. We think we are seeing a young person's first venture into romance, the first tentative tactile experience of love. Well, apparently the relationship lasted, because we find in the last verse that the first experience mentioned above occurred when they were four years old. Sometimes love at first sight means the very first sight. Nicely rhymed and told, this is a charming piece.

I watched my 2 year old granddaughter coax her 2 year old cousin along into coming out of his shell and i think this little piece came from that ...they hold hands with such loving trust bless them. Thank yoiu foir reading and commenting John
