Children's War Rhymes

Let's sing a song of napalm,
a pocket full of blood.
Four and twenty dead kids
lie still there in the mud.
And when their bodies molder
it is an awful thing.
Their mouths are closed or broken
so no longer can they sing.

It's way beyond scary
and you're feeling contrary.
So how does
your death garden grow?
With mortar shells
and dying yells.
And tiny corpses
in a quite splendid row.

The little mourner
sat in the corner.
While he watched
his loved ones die.
He felt very numb
and was struck so dumb.
That he even stopped
wondering why.

War
Very creative adaptation of nursery rhymes to illustrate the ghastliness of war. Very good pacing, unique rhymes. Well done.

Clever, effective
You've somehow expressed the deepest frustration in a whimsical way - clever. Thank you Michael.

Michael, my "fractured" nursery rhymes attempt to put a smile on a reader's face. Yours put a great big lump in this reader's throat. These are heart wrenching...and extremely well done.
