Tell The World

They want to tell the world their stories
Everything, the failures, glories
Shouting out for all to see
The power of reaction

Emoticons of varied faces
Smiles, tears, they find their places
A messaged hug, a friend indeed
A touching interaction

In many months they'll meet again
To be decided where and when
But in the meantime, post a status
Telling of your woe

Or maybe they have better news
Fix a sentence, they peruse
Nowadays a brief hiatus
Then they're good to go

It hasn't always been this way
But now we're living in today
A swift unlock, the familiar look
On a multiuse device

Attention seeking at it's best
A hundred likes? You passed the test
Takes far too long to read a book
I'll read the same things twice

Rinse, repeat, repost, retell
Rehash those needed feelings well
Join the club, how loud a voice?
Enough to change this era

You've either eyes that watch or do
Or maybe sit between the two
As time goes by a persons choice
Becomes a little clearer

And I definitely choose..
to stay far away from social media because it can be dangerous. When I meddled in a spat between a son and his wife, she cut me off from seeing my grandson. I was enraged and somewhat rightfully so. But one of the things I did was to try to shame them into relenting on Facebook. Needless to say she just dug in deeper! Now my dear friends, this place is my only social media. A sad poem about communication today!

Namaste,
Mike

I continue to resist becoming involved with social media. No Facebook or tweeting of any kind. I see how enslaved people become by it, having to constantly check it and fretting that they won't get many "likes." I will happily remain a media hermit..

I'm guessing, but . . .
I have a feeling you are speaking of Facebook. If so, you are dead-on right. I being to Facebook, but I like to sit back and see how dumbass some of the post can be. Spotlight!
